Download Subset of MOZART-4 Output

Results from 2 different MOZART-4 simulations are available for download as netcdf files from this site. Subsets can be selected for individual species, only surface level, and/or regions of the globe.

MOZART-4 results for regional model boundary conditions are available from the WRF-chem site (http://www.acd.ucar.edu/wrf-chem/mozart.shtml).

The MOZART-4/NCEP simulation is the standard simulation described in Emmons et al., GMD, 2010. It is driven by NCEP/NCAR-reanalysis meteorology and uses emissions based on POET, REAS and GFED2 (see Emmons et al., 2010). These results are at 2.8x2.8 deg horizontal resolution and have 28 levels.
Special note about O3 in MOZART-4/NCEP: This simulation includes the synthetic stratospheric ozone tracer SYNOZ. Because of this the species labeled 'O3' is unrealistic in the stratosphere and upper troposphere and the variable 'O3RAD' should be used at these altitudes. Please see Emmons et al., GMD, 2010 for more information about SYNOZ in MOZART-4.

The MOZART-4/GEOS-5 simulation is driven by meteorological fields from the NASA GMAO GEOS-5 model. SYNOZ and O3RAD are not used in this simulation, as there seems to be reasonable strat-trop exchange when using GEOS5 fields in MOZART-4. This simulation uses anthropogenic emissions based on David Streets' inventory for ARCTAS (http://www.cgrer.uiowa.edu/arctas/emission.html) and fire emissions from FINN-v1 (Wiedinmyer et al., Geosci. Model Devel., 2011). These results are at 1.9x2.5 deg with 56 levels.

The model results are instantaneous output every 6 hours. Files for 1 day for the whole globe for all altitudes are 250 MB for the NCEP simulation, and 940 MB for the GEOS-5 simulation.
MOZART-4/NCEP results are available for Jan 2, 2003 to Dec 1, 2009.
MOZART-4/GEOS5 results are available for Jan 1, 2007 to Mar 31, 2011.
